So, this is the second day of my logo challenge! Are you excited to see what I have come up with? This exercise is getting exciting with every passing day! Today's prompt is Hair Salon. I have visited many hair salons but the one I really love is Happy in the Head in Bandra, Mumbai. There logo is really straight forward and again a typographic one.
This salon is known for giving their customers a haircut that falls naturally. It's a salon where any haircut done for you will make you look good! They are also known for their offbeat coloring for hair. So this is what I came up with:
LOGO CONCEPT DISCLAIMER: THE REDESIGNED LOGOS ARE MERELY CONCEPTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE CHALLENGE. THESE ARE ONLY CREATED TO REFLECT MY UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THE LOGO CAN BE AND WILL NOT BE USABLE COMMERCIALLY UNLESS ASKED BY THE ACTUAL COMPANY TO BE BOUGHT OR USED.
I felt that a funky logo would describe the brand personality of the salon better. So I created an illustration of a girl having an expression of happiness and surprise on seeing her awesome hairstyle created by Happy in the head. The entire process of the logo design took me around 4 1/2 hours! I got stuck mainly with the fonts. Font choice is something that needs to complement the brand mark, otherwise the entire logo falls flat. So I tried to imagine what kind of font would look good with this brand mark. I decided that to create a look like this (the illustration) the hairdresser needs to have a distinct style, and all creators leave their signature on their work. I came to the conclusion that a handwritten signature font style would look the best! And BINGO! You can see how well it fit with the illustration! Some factors that the new logo depicts is:
- Hipster and Modern, catering to their target audience
- Shows the wackiness of the salon
- Shows how all their hair dressers have a distinct and unique style.
